Pramugari - Your Career As a Cabin Crew

 Pramugari is a Malay word for flight attendant or cabin crew. The name is significant, as the airlines in  ASEAN region are well known to provide the golden services and were accorded with numbers of awards. Review of the surveys and the processes, shows that  the cabin crews had contributed significantly  to the awards.  

If you are one of those who aspire to be a flight attendant, early planning and preparation will save you a lot of time and frustration. We believe that the development of individual's talents and skills will  take some time. It takes time to nurture and internalize the knowledge. This is because, we are dealing with the attitute and the emotional components on an individual, which as compared to the cognitive components, takes longer to develop and more difficult to measure. An excellent flight attendant can effectively apply multiple skills in his dealings with the passengers. Some of these skills can be acquired within a short period while others will need longer time to develop.

If you are new, fresh from high school, we suggest that  you begin your journey following sequential steps:

1. Begin your journey by working on your understanding of the concept of  knowledge and skills. This will help you to plan your learning and your efforts to equip yourself with the relevant knowledge and skills to prepare for a specific career. There are various theories on this. Some school of thought divide the knowledge into 4 areas, or domains: cognitive, pychomotor, emotional and language.  We have provided some write up in the page for "skills and Knowledge".

2. Find out more about your own selves. It is very important that you choose a career that is aligned to personality. It would be a waste if you start your career as a flight attendant, only to discover that you dont like what you are doing. It will be almost impossible to provide a good service to your passengrs if you yourself are upset and frustrated with what you are doing.

The selection of careers, for some young people, were not done systematically or logically. Some of them land up in a job by accident and stuck in it for the rest of his/her life. By the time he realises it is too late.

3. Find out about the job. Look at the processes, the things that you will need to do. Look at the environment where you are going to work. You space for future advancement. Consider and align it to your vision. I had provided some information, in 'Job Info' and "Employers" 

4. Then,  if you think that this is what you want............next step is to work to acquire it. I believe that you have a better chance to get the job if you spend some times to researching about it, and develop the necessary skill and knowledge to prepare for the career. The critical step, you need to get through the interview.  We had  gather informations on how to prepare for the intervew, what are sample of the questions asked and some background information.
